tm: A Stress Tester

This web page contains information on a stress tester, tm, that was developed at Ohio University to test certain aspects of the Cyrus IMAP4 email server and the accuracy of shared memory in Digital UNIX 4.0B.

The results of the test lead us to identify certain bugs in the operating system and a huge bottleneck in the email server. The program has been made available to various users around the nation wishing to test other aspects of the server and other services.

For more information on the program, a technical report has been written and is available in PostScript and PDF format.
